As the crisp winter air dances through the trees and the first snowflakes gently blanket the ground, there's a certain magic in the season that transports us back to cherished moments of our past. Today, I am beyond excited to share with you the Thomas Lane Beanie, a crochet masterpiece that encapsulates the spirit of my fondest childhood memories.
Named after the enchanting locale of Thomas Lane, where my youthful adventures unfolded like pages from a storybook, this beanie is more than just a winter accessory. It's a nostalgic journey back to a time when catching butterflies, swinging on rope swings, and creating magical escapades in the nearby forest were the essence of everyday joy.
Picture this: a home adorned with the warmth of Christmas lights, the aroma of freshly baked cookies wafting through the air, and living room dance parties to festive carols. Thomas Lane was not just a street; it was a haven where Santa's sleigh painted the night sky with wonder, and I, like many children, pretended to be asleep with the anticipation of Christmas morning.
It's only fitting that this winter beanie, designed with lots of love and endless possibilities, bears the name Thomas Lane. Crafted in four sizes—toddler, child, teen/adult small, and adult medium/large—this crochet pattern is not just about warmth; it's about embracing the spirit of cherished moments and creating new memories.
But that's not all—accompanying the beanie pattern is a delightful bonus: a cup cozy pattern to elevate your warm winter beverages. And here's the icing on the holiday cake—Cup Cozy Handle Patches available in the shop, making it easier than ever to cradle your favorite drinks in style.
As a nod to the season of giving, I've included a Christmas ornament pattern. Thanks to the super bulky yarn, it comes to life in the blink of an eye—a perfect last-minute addition to your festive crafting and gifting.
Join me in reliving the magic of Thomas Lane through the stitches of the Thomas Lane Winter Crochet Collection. May it warm not only your winter days but also your heart with the joy of yesteryears. Here's to festive crafting and the timeless spirit of Christmas and giving!

NOTES
Super Bulky yarn varies a great deal from one yarn type to another. Please make sure you use the measurements provided in each section to help you make sure you are on track. All the yarns I used were 5-6 wraps per inch and they still worked up completely differently from each other.
If you love a pattern with variations, this is a dream for you! After you are comfortable with the Two Step Stitch, try making one of these working into both front and back loops instead of just back loops! It's still beautiful but creates a whole new look! You can use alternating colors for your rows, use variagated colors, solid colors, just have fun!
This makes an excellent unisex beanie! You can add a pom to make it extra fancy or leave it off and create the perfect everyday work beanie.
I used Lion Brand Hometown yarn to work up my gauge swatch. I worked HDC rows 15 sts x 9rows. Gauge was 9HDC x 6 rows. Again, you may find it easier to use the measurments provided throughout these patterns.
Pattern can be increased in multiples of 2 sts if you would like a wider beanie.

THOMAS LANE CUP COZY PATTERN
Approximate time to make once familiar with the pattern is around 15 minutes.
Finished Size: 4.25" tall x 5" wide. FHDC should measure about 8" before connecting.
(RS) FHDCx18, FHDC INV JN (18)

(WS) TURN, working through your 3L and BL from your previous round: CH1, TS in each st around, TS INV JN (22)
(RS) TURN, working in BL only: CH1, HDC in each st around, INV JN (22)
Finish Off:
SLST and cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. If you are attaching a mug handle patch, see directions below, if you are not, you will weave in your end and trim excess yarn. You could add a patch to give your cozy some personality as well if you'd like.
Adding a Cozy Handle Patch:
With outside of cozy facing you, place your patch centered over the seam line (where you joined your rounds).
Fold the top over so the top four holes are on the inside of the cozy and lined up with the four holes on the ouside of the cozy. Work yarn through both the holes on the front and the back to make your handle secure.
Weave yarn through the inside of the cup cozy to the bottom edge. (Make sure to stretch the cozy before attaching bottom edge of patch to make sure you didn't pull the yarn too tight so this section won't stretch with the rest of the cozy.)
Line up bottom edge of patch so it is even with the top edge.
Attach bottom edge the same way you did the top edge, however when you have finished sewing through the holes, you will weave in the yarn ends and trim.
THOMAS LANE ORNAMENT PATTERN
Approximate time to make once familiar with the pattern is around 15 minutes.
Finished Size: 4" tall x 5" wide. FHDC should measure about 8" before connecting.
1.(RS) Make a magic ring and CH2, then make 8HDC inside the magic ring, CH2 does NOT count as a stitch, INV JN into first HDC (8)
2.(RS) CH1, HDC INC in each st, INV JN (16)
3.(RS) Working in BL only: CH1, (3HDC, HDC INC)x4, INV JN (20)
4.(WS) TURN, working through 3L and BL of previous round: CH1, TS in each st around, TS INV JN (20)
5.(RS) TURN, working in BL only: CH1, (4HDC, HDC INC)x4, INV JN (24)
6.(WS) TURN, working through 3L and BL of previous round: CH1, TS in each st around, TS INV JN (24)
7.(RS) TURN, working in BL only: CH1, (4HDC, HDC DEC)x4, INV JN (20)
8.(WS) TURN, working through 3L and BL of previous round: CH1, (3TS, TS DEC)x4, TS INV JN (16)
9.(RS) TURN, working in BL only: CH1, SC in each st, DO NOT INV JN YET, see below:
If you are wanting to attach a patch to the front of your ornament I would recommend doing so now. I usually use the excess yarn I had from the magic ring, or your can use a contrasting length of yarn to add a little pop of color. Slide your work over your ornament now. Now you can INV JN your round, SLST and cut yarn leaving a long tail. Weave yarn tail through the last row, I recommend going from the inside to the outside of the back loops all the way around and pulling firmly on your yarn to cinch closed the opening, you can weave in ends and trim excess yarn now.
